In fact, it was originally a sheep raised for meat, and the wool was discarded without using it. Under such circumstances, several years ago, Iwate Prefecture, producers, and homespun makers worked together to launch the "i-wool" project, which utilizes wool produced in the prefecture. This activity won the 2019 Good Design Award as a valuable initiative for recycling local resources. All Iwate blankets are made by carefully washing, spinning, and hand-woven wool from sheep raised in Iwate.
